For me it took a while to accept who I was and my appearance but I found what helped a little for me was occasionally taking photos of my face with my phone to become familiar with my appearance. It's fast, easy and you can delete them straight afterwards. Being unhappy with your appearance can definitely lower confidence and self-worth, as you've found. In the middle of a depressive episode, I feel so anc. Not necessarily physically ugly, but mean, emotional, unapproachable, short. Usually I can identify my episodes, and know when they are coming, based on life and tiredness, but many times they sneak up and leave me suddenly not wanting to engage in anything. Though late winter seems to be a safe bet for me. These episodes leave me feeling unworthy, incapable, sloppy, worthless, hollow…. The people who stick around and refuse to question my faith are the ones I keep. Every action is harder.

I'm losing confidence, because I think I'm ugly. I haven't had my first kiss, because I don't think anyone would want to. I'm too scared of moving schools because I don't think people will want to be my friend. I hang around people who like me even if I don't like them, because what if I never have anyone else like me. I don't open up to people, because I think they'll say to themselves "well, what can she expect". And deprsesed thing is, it doesn't matter what the 'truth' is. Because I know what my truth is and it's my truth that's holding me back. I think I'm ugly and you can tell me I'm beautiful but I won't believe it. And that's my problem.
